Fair Treatment for Consumers
This year’s budget as predicted contained few surprises with the government continuing to address consumer concerns.
You may be aware that cable and telecom firms have started adding a $2 fee on any bill that arrives in the post, the cost they say of handling a paper bill. In the new budget, banks are now prohibited from charging fees to credit card clients who wish to receive their monthly statements in a printed format and I couldn’t be happier!
Other key changes are improved internet access to broadband in rural and northern communities and if you’re tired of having to cross the border to buy certain goods at cheaper prices then you will be glad to note new legislation was introduced to address price discrimination in ‘country pricing strategies’.
